About the project

About Other History

Other History is an open research platform about historical places: star forts, fortresses, kremlins, geoglyphs and more. We bring sources together in one archive, put objects on a map, make films and research the gaps together with the community.

Open to everyone, and for members

Open to everyone: object pages, the map, the nearest airport of each object and films, in thirteen languages.

For members: the archive of sources, downloads, search with citations and uploads. Joining is free with one Community Network account.

Facts, reconstructions and interpretations

Every material carries a label: documented, reconstruction, interpretation or unknown. A hypothesis stays a hypothesis until it is proven, and films with reconstructions are labelled as interpretation.

How we research

Sources and licences

Object facts come from Wikidata (CC0), airports from OurAirports (public domain), photos from Wikimedia Commons under the licence stated for each file, and the map from OpenStreetMap contributors via Protomaps. Every archive material keeps its own source and licence. Films and texts by Other History are © Other History.
